The Inter-City Credit Council is a professional association that supports the aims and goals of Credit Professionals International. While originally started as a networking association for CPI associations within the state of Georgia, it has since been expanded to welcome CPI members from any association. At the ICCC meetings, CPI members exchange successes and concerns and have the opportunity to network and attend educational workshops.
How the Inter-City Credit Council began:
The Inter-City Credit Council was formed over 55 years ago by the members of Credit Professionals International, known then as Credit Women’s Breakfast Club, for the purpose of developing closer contact with credit women and giving support to the Georgia State Association of Credit Women, the Dixie Council of Credit Women, and Credit Women International. The association was sponsored by Mr. Comer Cherry, owner of the Credit Bureau of Valdosta.
It was suggested that the members of CWBC of Albany, Americus, Bainbridge, Savannah, Thomasville, Valdosta, and Waycross meet quarterly to network, exchange ideas, and promote education. The meetings were held in each city, rotating alphabetically.
Each association would report quarterly on their activities and submit annual reports for judging. Awards were given for achievement, education, and perfect attendance at ICCC meetings. The Comer Cherry Award was established to select the outstanding member in ICCC.
Over the years membership has been expanded to extend to any member of Credit Professional International, and ICCC meetings are now held three times a year in Georgia and South Carolina. ICCC continues to develop closer contacts among credit professionals and give support to the State, District, and International levels of Credit Professionals International.
