CPI of Charlotte hosted the Sixty-Fourth Annual State Conference of Credit Professionals
International of North Carolina at the Marriott Executive Park Hotel in Charlotte
September 16-18, 2005. President Darlene Eason presided.
Kathy Casper, Shirley Cox, and Immediate Past President Elaine Teate hosted the Past
President's Dinner Friday evening after the Pre-Conference Executive Committee
meeting. CPI of Charlotte hosted the hospitality suite. After the Pre-Conference Board
meeting Saturday morning, Thomas Grogan, a Forensic Document Examiner with
Handwriting Services International, gave an interesting presentation on how handwriting
analysis can be used in Identity Theft cases and how people can best protect
themselves from forgery.
Gail Ottinger hosted the Career Club Special luncheon with the theme "Proud to Be an
American". Special guests were Past International President and Hall of Fame Member
Lorna Collins York and her husband, Peter. District President Esther Brinkley installed
Charlotte Maness as the new President with Mary Isenhour as Secretary. Attendees
represented 919 years in the credit industry.
The Annual Business Meeting was held Saturday afternoon. District III & IV President
Esther Brinkley gave remarks from District and Immediate Past International President
Carol Neal from Atlanta, GA, reported on news from International. All recommended
bylaws changes and the proposed budget were passed, and new officers were elected.
After a reception Saturday evening, Past District President Cheryl Davis installed the new
officers using the theme "WINGS" of the butterfly, where Wisdom, Integrity, Networking
and Growth equal Success. Past International President Gail Ottinger was awarded
State Honorary Membership. Marvin Robbins was recognized as a first-timer, and
special recognition was also given to out-of-state guests Janice Dressler and Rhonda
McKinney from Atlanta.
Reverend Jim McSwain was the special guest speaker at the Awards Breakfast Sunday
morning following the Post Conference Executive Committee Meeting. His talk was on
"Life Lessons". The conference concluded with the Post Conference Board Meeting
where the new officers and local associations presidents shared their goals for the
coming year.
