2008-2009 Year In Review

August:  Four members and one sponsor attended the Inter-City Credit Council meeting in Augusta on
August 1.  Anne Hammond, President of ICCC, presided and presented an educational program reviewing
the impact of recent credit card legislation on consumers and creditors.  

July:  Six members and seven guests attended the Summer Social at the home of Amelia Brown on
August 25.  After the potluck luncheon Terry Wynne, Owner of The Professional Edge, facilitated an
entertaining improv session.

Plans for the 2010 District Conference and 2009 Make A Difference Day were discussed at the Board
Meeting on July 9 at the Piccadilly Cafeteria.

June:  Six members and three guests attended the June 25 meeting.  Glenrose "Glennie" Miles,
CFCE/MPCE, was remembered in a memorial service, and Past Presidents were honored.  President
Carol shared highlights from the International Conference and presented key points from the educational
workshop on Bankruptcy.  Michele Rocher presented highlights from "Safety First", Rhonda McKinney on
"Hiring and Terminating", Joyce Dove on "Community Outreach and Education", and Anne Hammond
summarized the motivational speech on "From the Embers of Adversity Rises the Phoenix of Opportunity".

Five members and one sponsor attended the 72nd Annual International Conference in Silverdale, WA,
June 17-21.  See

May:  Terry L. Wynne, Owner of The Professional Edge, spoke on "I Finally Got It All Together and Can't
Remember Where I Put It" at the May 21 membership meeting.

April:  Nine members and five guests attended the April 23 membership meeting to hear, Carol Wilson,
Financial Education Specialist,
CCCS of Greater Atlanta, speak on "CCCS - Helping Consumers in
Today's Economy" and get an update from the District Conference.

Six members and three sponsors attended the 72nd Annual District III & IV Conference in Charlotte, NC
April 16-18.   See

March was Credit Education Month.

                              Educational displays were put out at Equifax, Manning Oaks Elementary School,
                              AT&T, Perimeter Adult Learning and Services, at a Project Adult Literacy
                              location in Alpharetta and at the Centerville Branch Library and Community
                              Center in Snellville.  Carol Neal set up a display and gave a brief presentation to
                              over 400 people at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church on March 18.  
                              Rhonda McKinney used the materials in her tutoring at Manning Oaks
                              Elementary.  Joyce Council spoke on Money Management (Money Matters,
                              Credit & Debt) on three different nights at the Body of Christ Church International.
                              There  were about 80 people at the first two sessions on March 2 and 3 and 90 attendees
on March 4.  Joyce also spoke on Credit Tips on March 28 at a Women's Conference at the Crown Plaza
Atlanta Perimeter with over 500 attendees.  Anne Hammond and Carol Neal were featured
in the media spot about CPI of Atlanta being shown on WATC TV 57 this month.  Isaac Atkins of Chartway
FCU used materials from CPI of Atlanta at a presentation on banking to "Kids at Risk".  Anthony Stroman
spoke on Financial Self Defense to 210 people March 2-4 at The Body of Christ Church International in
Atlanta; on Financial Healing and Financial Self Defense to 25 people on March 14 at the Hope Community
Church in Huntsville, AL, on Financial Self Defense to 130 people at Tri-City High School in Atlanta, and
on Financial Increase to 30 people in Ellenwood, GA on March 21 and to 6 people in Jonesboro, GA on
March 23.

The March 28 Bridge Benefit was a success with 22 tables of players who braved the storms.  Many thanks
to Coordinator Joyce Dove and her volunteers...Anne Hammond, Sarah Hill, Amelia Brown, Rhonda
McKinney, Michele Rocher, Mary Rangel-Mattox, Joyce Council, and Carol Neal.  There was an educational
display and over $400 was raised for our education activities, the Credit Education Resources Foundation,
and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.  We give out a special thank you to Janet Brewer
for donating the wonderful desserts!

Ten members and four guests attended the March 19 meeting.  Annette Walden,
Painted Lady Enterprises,
was the guest speaker on "Building Your Network to Increase Your Net Worth".

February:  Rhonda McKinney attended the "Recession Proof Your Household" session sponsored by the
Georgia Consortium for Personal Financial Literacy on February 26.  CPI of Atlanta is hoping to partner with
this organization.

Six members and one guest attended the February 21 meeting of the Inter-City Credit Council in West
Columbia, SC.  ICCC President Anne Hammond presided and shared highlights from her recent trip to
New Zealand.  

Eight members and two guests attended the February 19 meeting at the Piccadilly where Susan Brown,
Founder of
Impact Coaching, LLC, spoke on "Energy Boosters:  Emotional Fuelers or Foolers?".

Six members and one guest attended the February 5 Board Meeting at the Piccadilly.  Plans were made for
Credit Education Month and the District Conference.

January:  Gail Dunn, Women's Automotive Connection, and Sherry Richardson, Alan Cox Automotive,
were co-presenters on "Car Smarts for Women...and Men, too!" at the January 29 meeting held at the
Equifax offices at Northpark Town Center with seven members and three guests in attendance.

December:  Five members and four guests enjoyed the Annual Winter Social on December 13.  Rhonda
McKinney hosted the event which started with brunch at the Atmosphere French Bistro followed by a trip
to see the holiday displays at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.   Toys and clothing were gathered for Clayton
County Department of Children and Family Services, our annual Angel Project.  

November:  Tom Newell, Newell Financial Services Group, presented "Financial Planning for Pre-Retirees"
at the November 20 meeting at the Piccadilly Cafeteria.  Michele Rocher, District Vice President and local
Parliamentarian conducted the orientation portion of the Board Meeting that followed with eight members
and two guests in attendance.  

Six members participated at the Bridge Benefit held on November 8 at Bethesda Senior Center in
Gwinnett.  Joyce Dove was the coordinator.  There were 100 players and the funds raised benefited  the
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, the Credit Education Resources Foundation, and CPI
of Atlanta.  There was also an educational display and a book sale.

Six members staffed a booth at the Peachtree United Methodist Church Yard Sale on Saturday,
November 1.  They distributed free credit educational materials and sold books, crafts, and other items
donated by the members to raise funds for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the
Credit Education Resources Foundation.

October:   CPI of Atlanta members participated in Make A Difference Day on Saturday, October 25.  
Members donated clothing and funds to the Nicholas House, a center helping homeless families
achieve self-sufficiency.  Rhonda McKinney and Anne Hammond made the delivery.

CPI of Atlanta hosted the Inter-City Credit Council meeting on Sunday, October 19 at the home of Joyce
Dove in Stone Mountain, GA.   Joyce Dove won the Comer Cherry Award for outstanding service to
ICCC and CPI.   New officers are  Anne Hammond, Atlanta, GA, President, and Carol Neal, Atlanta GA,
Secretary/Treasurer.  After the meeting Anne presented a program on "Conflicts of Interest".

CPI of Atlanta hosted the CPI of Georgia  Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 18, at the Avensong
Community Club House in Milton, GA.    Atlanta member Rhonda McKinney concluded her second term
as State President and using the theme "Stepping Up and Stepping Out".  Frances Crowell, CPI of
Augusta,served as Secretary/Treasurer.  District President Diane Radcliff of CPI of Charlotte, NC and
International President Esther Brinkley from CPI of Triad, NC were the guest speakers.  Rhonda McKinney
of Atlanta was named Georgia Credit Professional of the Year.  Michele Rocher and Rhonda McKinney
were endorsed for District Office.  CPI of Atlanta won the State Bulletin Award.  Ten Atlanta members and
two local guests attended, along with CPI members from Augusta, GA, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Tennessee.  The workshop speaker prior to the meeting was Peggy Titus-Hall, PeopleGrowth LLC, on
"Communication Tips for the 21st Century."

The Atlanta Installation and Awards Dinner was held at the Piccadilly Cafeteria on Friday, October 17, 2007,
with 8 members and 13 guests in attendance.  District President Diane Radcliff, from CPI of Charlotte, NC,
installed the
new officers using the theme: "Let Your Light Shine":  Carol Neal, CCBE/MPCE, President;
Anthony Stroman, Vice President; Anne Hammond, CCBE/MPCE, Secretary; and Joyce Dove, CCCE/MPCE,
Treasurer.  Seven members were recognized for Perfect Attendance in 2007-2008.  Rhonda McKinney was
named Credit Professional of the Year and Outstanding Member of the Year.  Joyce Ann Council,
Money4Life, was installed as a new member.

Joyce Dove and Anne Hammond attended the International Strategic Planning and Executive Committee
Meetings in St. Louis, MO, October 10-11.
